Harmony disarms the songwriting process through unique, experiential exercises that lead to seeing songwriting as an everyday activity where one can write a song about anything: breakfast, a bridge, an ant who never returns home. We practice honing our skills, keeping our senses alert and our hearts open, so that when inspiration does strike we are ready and able. We offer a four part series of day long workshops. We focus on new ways of generating lyrics, understanding our perceptions of what is true and musical knowledge, both theoretical and practical. At each session we write 2-3 songs and share them. Focused study topics have included:Chord Substitution, Pedal Tone Progressions, Cadences and Turnarounds, Expanding Chord Vocabulary, etc. SPRING 2020 DATES: Mar 8 Apr 18 May 3 June 6 Songwriter Showcase Feb. 16th 2-4 pm, Monkey House Berkeley, CA.
